Special Issue Information

Metal nanoclusters as an emerging nanomaterial hold immense potential with their well-identified molecular structures and tunable properties. They act as a bridge between mononuclear metal complexes and nanoparticles, offering unique size distribution, molecular structures, electronic structures, and photic and re-dox properties. These characteristics make metal nanoclusters promising materials for fundamental research and industrial applications, spanning photoluminescence, nanocatalysis, bio-labeling, sensing, energy, etc. However, numerous critical questions remain unrevealed, e.g. the hurdle is the controllable and purposeful synthesis, which is crucial for understanding their self-assembly rules and structure-property relationship. Recently, photoluminescence and redox properties of metal nanoclusters are still in their infancy, requiring generous efforts. Therefore, we earnestly hope that this special issue could serve as a platform for researchers to share their exciting findings and incredible breakthroughs, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual learning.
